More household items in your Bensalem, Pennsylvania, home end up dirty and germy than you’d ever expect. Did you know you should be cleaning your kitchen sponge, your toothbrush, and your AC air filters?

Your Kitchen Sponge

The kitchen sponge is one of the filthiest items in your house. Because it sits out while wet and cleans old food off dishes, it’s a breeding ground for bacteria. To clean that sponge, pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds so it gets nice and hot.

Your Toothbrush

You use your toothbrush to scrape bacteria off your teeth, so after just one brushing it becomes a playground for germs. Soak it in vinegar to kill those germs. Or, if you don’t have vinegar, mouthwash will work, too.

Your AC Air Filters

Your AC filters trap particles as the air passes through them so the AC can blow clean air into your home. Unless you don’t change them. Then, the filters get clogged and the AC ends up blowing dust and debris through your vents instead of clean air. Buy new filters at the store, and replace used ones regularly.

Your Trash Cans

You throw away garbage in the trash can, which you then empty. But do you clean it out? How often has garbage leaked into the bottom of the can? How often have you tossed a piece of trash, missed the bag, and hit the lid instead? Get out your favorite disinfectant wipes, or drag the trash can into the back yard, soap it up, and hose it down.

Your Reusable Grocery Bags

Trying to save the planet is great, but you might inadvertently be getting your groceries all germy. Throw cloth reusable grocery bags in the washing machine with the laundry to clean them. If you’ve got the plastic kind, wiping them out with disinfectant wipes will do the trick.
